Water, in its appearance of solidity, is more a vessel than an object, holding fish, plants, dragonfly nymphs.  The water at the lake is absorbent, taking into itself all that is not essential within me and leaving only solitude and  joy.  These water lilies are abundant, their yellow flowers fragrant.  Cow Lily or Bullhead Lily.  Their rippled edges help them to withstand waves and wind.  They hold heart shaped water at their centers.  So beautiful.  Come see this painting in person at
The Community House in Kennebunkport on Friday evening
from 5-7 and throughout the weekend, July 20-22, 2012.

I recently sold my Timber Point Mussels painting to another artist/designer.  How wonderful.
On July 20-22 I will be in another show of the Art Guild of the Kennebunks at the Community
House in Kennebunkport.  The opening reception is from 5-7 on Friday July 20.  Please join
me there.  My latest work is inspired by Estes Lake and the loons we hear at night.

I've been playing with layered portraits.
Lots of stacking
of images, memorabilia,
sacred text with a roller of paint
over all. This one is for Holy Week.

I responded to the "Call for Art" to create a piece in response to Van Gogh's
Starry Night. It is a mixed media piece using acrylic paint and collage.
The show will be April 26, 2012 at the Town Club in Sanford, Maine.
It is a benefit for Counseling Services Inc.
I am always amazed at the intimacy of copying someone else's work. It becomes an
experience of being that artist and feeling what that person must have felt. More on this later...

Timber Point mussels 3"x 3"

Timber point mussels

Walking Timber Point of Goose Rocks Beach, I found mussel shells in heaps and felt
compelled to pick them up. Once home I began to paint them and felt a connection
to my Long Island home and my mother who passed away a year ago. Painting them
has given me great joy. They can be seen at The Hive, Main Street Kennebunk, an
artists' collective I belong to.

I discovered the IPod touch and the app Brushes! Some self-portraits that I love.
